If you have ever seen someones head staring down at a notebook looking thing with a pencil in hand… you may be staring at an avid crossworder… but, recently a new craze has been sweeping the country… SUDOKU!
WIKI says that Sudoku is a logic-based number placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 boxes (also called blocks or regions) contains the digits from 1 to 9, only one time each (that is, exclusively). The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid.
I can tell you from many hours of what I thought was relaxation… turns out, it was more like frustration… that, Sudoku is a great new addition to the games world.

There is nothing more “traditional” than a nice relaxing game of 7 card texas holdem poker.
I grew up playing dominos, go fish, checkers, chess, and a dozen or so other traditional games… my family was very into board games and cards.
As an adult, I have been drawn into the huge sensation that has become poker… online, on tv, at the annual world series of poker, everyone loves it, everyone is playing it.
But, who knows how long this will last… I know my grandparents generation was all about the card game “Bridge”.

Chess is the ultimate game of strategy. It has been called the “game of kings” and that is the truth. Have you ever played a game of chess with a very good player ? A player who is planning 10 moves ahead…….
If you have, then you know how hard it is to strategize at that level. Most of us can only play one or maybe two moves ahead. It takes a great chess player to strategize so far ahead in a game that can have so many moves to make with so many pieces on the board. I know I can maybe try and strategize three moves ahead and I consider myself a good chess player. I have played hundreds of games on the chess board with many different opponents and I win most of them. I have even played many hundred games with the computer or video game console and I can win most of those unless I play the “expert” level.
However, if you ever come across a chess master and play on the board with them, then you will know what it is to be whipped. All you can do is hope the chess master is nice enough not to laugh at your supposed strategy skills.
The only good thing that can come from being whipped by a chess master is you can learn how to play the game better and maybe one day you will be the chess master.
